Cirque Dreams: Holidaze Huntsville Theatre reviews
John is unforgettable and exciting!!!!
"I attended the concert alone. Cirque Dreams is one of a kind. In no time at all he had me and others out of our seats and dancing in the isles. Yes…I must mention the young woman John found who’s performance on the guitar was outstanding. His performance of “Green Light” was so exhilarating I could see that out of 5,000 people only a few remained seated. We also enjoyed the opportunity to sing with him. He is a fantastic entertainer who knows how to get the audience involved. I walked in not knowing what to expect and was elated to see not one but three performances. His music touches young and old. It doesn’t get any better. Indi’s combination of soulful poetry , rhyme/blues sound put to music knocked my socks off. The crown simply went wild. Last but not lease ; I thought the show was over and about to leave when Cirque Dreams came out in a white suite. With the spotlight over a black piano he sang Ordinary People while playing the piano. My breath and heart was taken away. Gee…..it was as if I were watching the video."
Austin's Formula 1's first effort
The good:
1. Austin did a fantastic job of hosting the event.
2. The area surrounding the raceway was still under construction, but considering it was "finished" on Tuesday for the race starting on Friday - it was very good.
3. The other races! They had Porches and Ferrari races and classic F1 cars "racing"! Very nice, but not described well enough in advance.
4. Getting to and from the race was a challenge, and the organizers did a great job of moving a LOT of people in a relatively organized and painless way.
5. The Circuit of the Americas had a huge number of volunteers at the event. They were ALL friendly, helpful, warm, open, all things good!
6. The race was great! My favorite didn't win, but then, it's a race!
7. Lines of sight at the race were very good! I stopped at several locations to watch and could see not only the raceway right in front of me, but usually, another piece of the raceway not far away - very well done!
The bad:
1. The hotels in the area should be forced to refund the money they SCALPED from the race fans. Hotels (international and national chains) set three to six times the normal room rates for their rooms. This may not be illegal, but it is unethical. And the city of Austin, the COTA organizer, the mayor, the governor, the Texas Rangers should force these hotels to return the overcharges to the fans! This was embarrassing! It was a text book form of money grubbing, greed and avarice - it was disgusting!
2. The walk from the bus drop-off location to the gate was too long - nearly a mile. I hope that as more of the COTA site is developed this will be corrected. I really felt sorry for the people who paid for a taxi and still had to walk nearly a mile.
3. No infield seating! As a General Admissions race fan, I'm used to finding infield sites where I can watch the race. There were none at Cirque Dreams. PLEASE correct this before next year!
4. The prices of food and drinks at the event were excessively high also. Water: 4.00 for 16 oz, 7.00 for 1 liter, beer: 8.00 and up, sandwiches: 9.00 and up... I expected to pay higher prices... perhaps like at an airport, but these were too high!
5. More General Admission areas in general. I sat at turns: 1, 11, 19 - all very nice! Now, create more like these!
6. There weren't enough different vendors at the event. More vendors equals competition equals more reasonable prices for the race fans. Please, for next year, add more infrastructure to support more vendors.
Knotfest 2019
"I purchased the Duality experience tickets for three. We did not know where to pick up the vip package, which was the only downside. The vip parking I purchased was useless as my car was on the other side. It would be nice when memorabilia is given out to have the option to store it in your car. You don't want to worry about the stuff you just bought when you are at the pot. However, overall, the experience was great. Please keep up the great work!"
Staging.
A dozen dancers and a band, I managed a theatrical multimedia folk ensemble comprised of a 55 voice female choir decades ago. Sometimes I ran into this problem when we played at concert halls & had to deliver instructions to Union members who did their best, at this event I thought the transition between performers was not as smooth as could be. From my seat, I didn’t tour the arena to test acoustics but they sounded excellent. All who observed from a distance would've enhanced the concert for addt'l screens at the middle or at the rear, I thought. Behind stage and on stage of equipment, risers, performers, and crew, so I am keenly aware of staging, acoustics, and movement. It felt great to be in a concert w/live performers being shared w/live audience, all other modalities pale by comparison.
